If you tour Australia, this book is a MUST HAVE.  This is the one I constantly recommend.

When you tour in remote areas and know you cannot buy fresh fruit and vegatables,  do you take added vitamins?  Do you choose for your own individual needs? For instance, vitamins targeted to the needs of women are higher in iron than those targeted for senior women or men, prenatal vitamins are higher in calcium.

When you are travelling the gray nomad lifestyle as Reg and I do, it is a good idea to have a not only a sound understanding of nutrition and to eat and drink in a healthy way, but to also have some idea of the nutrients in food as a means of healing.

Very frequently, the traveller can find themselves a day’s drive or more from the nearest doctor, and many conditions can respond to some basic knowledge of vitamins and mineral needs of the body.

Healing with Vitamins

Vitamins and minerals are the very essence of human existence. Getting enough of these essential nutrients could be one's best insurance against illness. What's more, a large and growing body of nutrition research suggests that in therapeutic dosages, certain vitamins and minerals may slow and perhaps reverse the disease process. The trick is getting the right nutrients in the right amounts-too little won't have any effect, and too much could do more harm than good."Healing with Vitamins" offers complete nutrient prescriptions for 90 common health concerns, including allergies, depression, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, insomnia, and migraines. It also offers: important information on controversial supplements such as beta carotene and vitamin E; helpful guidelines for choosing the most effective supplements; the lowdown on medications that can deplete key vitamins and minerals; condition-specific food remedies that can support the healing process; and, in-depth instructions for using supplements
