Downsizing, Home, Career and Self, a Joyful Journey-The Book Draft Begins.

Reg and I are still travelling south.

We have stopped off to enjoy the artesian thermal pools here in Moree in NSW, for one week to break the long journey between northern Queensland and north Victoria.
I begin writing a small book, tonight at 12mn J, 1st of August, 2010 and the day I qualify for my aged care pension. J.  The date I officially  begin to write my first book draft. 

I have only had poetry, essays, magazine and newspaper articles and booklets published in the past, never a book length work. 

What am I Writing? In August:-

I am writing a joyful journey of downsizing of home, career and self.

 Initially I am writing a semi autobiographical reference book about a joyful journey of downsizing of home, where travel and simple life,  country living has become our main emphasis, an enormous career upheaval, the responsibilities of carer duties for an aging partner, and successfully  doing the seemingly impossible and reversing declining health,  releasing excess weight, regaining fitness.
 
I anticipate this will be published as a small paperback book of approximately 100 pages with a retail price of around $22.95

There might be an E Book version for $9.95.

 I would love to receive early indication from readers who might be interested in purchasing this book. Needless to say I would also be delighted to hear from genuine publishers who pay the writer (not vanity press publishers seeking business.) J.

In November I plan to begin writing the novel of around 80,000 words. This small book is my 'warm up', effort and one I hope will have a lot of useful information; I can share, within it.

The main area I am interested in studying is writing and the focus of my writing is travel and fitness so tomorrow Reg and I will be visiting waterfalls and bushwalking once more. J


Did you know that if you are on a disability pension you could apply for an education allowance to study? 
I am eligible for the aged care pension in three weeks time, so I made a few enquiries while I was filling out the application forms. It seems I am not eligible for assisted education once on that pension but most other pensioners  can receive substantial subsidies for adding some studies and with studies able to be done, on line these days, this can fit in well, with the gray nomad’s, touring lifestyle.

I am progressing with the beginning of my first novel writing, I have chosen, my title, the elevator pitch, description for the book and written the first few pages.  I am using my own name for the hero of the book, for the moment, I can change this at a later date, I thought this would help my write it as if  my hero was doing the narative.

I have been reading information in books I have with me in the caravan, my favourite being, “The Everything Guide to Novel Writing.

I have been searching for on line courses where I can improve my writing skills. I am currently looking at the gmat prep pages, but this seems to relate to mathematics, not something I am interested in at the moment.  

The only maths aspect of what I am doing is my purchasing a financial year diary so I can keep a good record of my income and expenditure for my hobby writing business to show I am not making a profit over expenses, from it, in case I am ever, queried.   If I am able to save some money from my bread and butter, blog  writing, I will put it aside to help me with my education for more serious novel writing. J.  I am a great believer in learning from the experts while retaining your own individual flair and creative originality.
