 Reg did not catch any fish yesterday the sea was too rough. So I spent the time when he usually goes fishing looking up on the internet the effect of the weather, the sun, moon cycle, on the tides and the fish, all the ins n outs of fishing for whiting off the shore. One thing that had Reg and I cracking up laughing was that when I Goggled for Fishing for Whiting’, the blog I wrote about Fishing with Dad, for Whiting, by our dog, Indigo, popped up first in the list of ‘how to fish for whiting’. We thought it hilarious that today, Google ranked our dog the top expert in whiting fishing. J. We have learnt :- Whiting is a great fish for the beginner; you only need lightweight equipment. When the moon is full the fish bit at night when the moon is new they bite during the daytime. The best fishing time is 45 minutes before and after sunset, and tide changes weather condition changes. Whiting like a moving tide as that stirs up the smaller creatures, sand worms that they feed on. A small weight the size of a pea is all you need for whiting and a small red plastic tube just above the bait can catch this inquisitive fishes eye, it will come over to investigate and will probably take your bait. You can attach several hooks to the same line and it is possible to catch several whiting at the one time. Fishing near a drop off, is good as this is where the whiting like to feed. You do not need to be able to cast out into deep water as the whiting are caught, in the shallows and grooves within 20 feet of the shore. That every fisherman, lol, has his own opinion of how to set up the fishing line and when is the best time to fish. Even I caught my first whiting the first time I went out to fish, whiting is ideal for the beginner angler, no experience required.
