There are some fabulous prices available for fly drive tours of New Zealand, if booked soon.

Facebook keeps tempting me with sidebar adds saying fly drive NZ for $525. and as we are forgoing heading north in Australia for winter and staying south so we can give our youngest daughter Carla and her husband a getaway, (mind the home and dog for them), I thought I might scrape up a north Island NZ treat late winter, but I could not interest Reg.

My grey nomad loves his own caravan too much and could not grasp that a trip north in Australia probably costs just as much as a trip to New Zealand.  Air fairs and motor home hire deals when on sale price, are no more costly than the 10,000 k car service and wear n tear on tires for the distance we travel when we head north west Australia.

Traveling a shorter distance this year, Western Victoria and South Australia for our tour, I thought I could afford a short fly away holiday treat at the end with the savngs on our usual travel costs this year.

Have you toured New Zealand in August?  How wet and cold would it be at that time of year compared to say, Victoria, Australia?

NZ IN August - very cold-similair to Tasmania-this is mid winter, snow, icy roads, rain, frosts, temps from 0-maybe10deg if you are lucky, best to do the SI from October-April, and the NI from Sept-April.
I am from NZ but live in Perth, I lived in NZ having a motorhome as my residence for 2 years and living on a yacht-you need to have a heater running all nite to keep warm.
Email me if you would like to know more,
Brenda
